How Often Should a Luxury Brand Post on Instagram?

It's the question every brand asks, and almost always the wrong one. Because the honest answer isn't a number — it's a standard you can actually hold.

The frequency myth

Somewhere along the way, "post daily" became gospel. For a luxury brand, it's often the fastest way to look cheaper.

Posting frequently only helps if every post meets your standard. The moment you start posting to hit a number, quality drops, and a premium audience notices instantly. Seven rushed posts a week don't read as "active." They read as "trying too hard, with nothing to say."

What inconsistency actually signals

Premium is, at its core, a promise of control. The product is exactly right. The service is exactly right. So when a brand's feed lurches between a beautiful post and three filler ones, between a week of activity and a month of silence, it breaks that promise. It tells the customer: we're not fully in command of our own brand. For a luxury buyer, that's disqualifying.

The rule that actually matters

Forget frequency for a second and ask a better question: what is the highest standard I can hold consistently? That number — whatever it is — is your real cadence.

For most premium brands with a small team, that's somewhere around three to four considered posts a week, supported by lighter daily Stories. Not because three is magic, but because it's a standard most brands can sustain without ever dropping below their level. A sustainable standard beats an ambitious one you abandon by week three.

Why consistency compounds

A single great post is a moment. A consistent standard is a brand. When every post a customer sees is held to the same level, they stop evaluating each one and start trusting all of them. That trust is the asset. It compounds quietly, post after post, until your presence is doing the selling before you ever speak.

Virality gives you a spike. Consistency gives you equity. For a luxury brand, only one of those is worth building.
